Official Rules *
- Students must be applicants to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar for the Fall 2007 term
- All contestants must be Round 1 or Round 2 applicants to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. If you have not yet applied to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, complete the application process first and then work on the scholarship essay, which must be submitted by 31 March 2007.
- Contest applies to Carnegie Mellon Qatar Campus applicants only and not to applicants to the Pittsburgh campus.
- Submissions must be original essays of no more than 1,500 words written in English by the applicant. The essay must be different from the Common Application essay. Plagiarized essays will be disqualified.
- All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar professors
- The Grand Prize is a full-tuition scholarship to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, worth approximately USD 35,000 per year. Tuition does not cover additional fees (such as the Technology Fee, the Student Activity Fee, and the Orientation Fee), nor does it cover textbook costs or campus living expenses.
- The Grand Prize Scholarship is renewable annually for up to four years total, which is normal length of time required to complete the Carnegie Mellon Bachelor of Science degree.
- The Grand Prize Scholarship is not transferable to another person or to another university campus, including another Carnegie Mellon campus. Up to two semesters of study in an approved study abroad program is permitted.
- The five (5) First Prizes are half-tuition scholarships to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, worth approximately USD 17,500 per year. The scholarship funds do not cover additional fees (such as the Technology Fee, the Student Activity Fee, and the Orientation Fee), nor do they cover textbook costs or campus living expenses.
- The five (5) First Prize Scholarships are renewable annually for up to four years total, which is normal length of time required to complete the Carnegie Mellon Bachelor of Science degree.
- The five (5) First Prize Scholarships are not transferable to another person or to another university campus, including another Carnegie Mellon campus. Up to two semesters of study in an approved study abroad program is permitted.
- Winners will be notified via electronic mail and courier on or around 15 April 2007
- The opinions expressed in the applicants' submissions do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
