About the Qatar Foundation
The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is a private, chartered, nonprofit organization, founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar. Guided by the principle that a nation's greatest resource is the potential of its people, Qatar Foundation aims to develop that potential through a network of centers devoted to progressive education, research and community welfare.
Carnegie Mellon partners with the Qatar Foundation
Carnegie Mellon University was invited by the Qatar Foundation to help establish Education City, a gathering of elite educational institutions offering a full range of programs, from early childhood education to postgraduate studies, all of which prepare students to take leadership roles in an increasingly global society.
Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers undergraduate degrees in two of its most highly ranked programs, business and computer science. Qatar campus students receive an education characterized by the Carnegie Mellon tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. Students who enroll in these two programs at Carnegie Mellon in Qatar will follow the same demanding curriculum as their counterparts at the university's home campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and other global centers. All earn the same prestigious Carnegie Mellon degree.
